Management Approach

Chalice Engineering aims to provide accurate and reliable computer aided analysis, to maximise customer benefit. An important element in achieving this is an awareness of quality management principles. Read more on Management and Quality here. Chalice Engineering is a member of the professional body for numerical simulation and finite element analysis (NAFEMS) and Mark has written many articles for their quarterly journal, BENCHmark. See the Analysis Basics page for information about these articles.

Industry Experience

Mark has worked for many of the leading businesses in the oil and gas, aerospace, and rail sectors, including Rolls-Royce, Cameron and Bombardier.

Mark is experienced in many industry standard general purpose finite element codes, including ANSYS (Classic and Workbench), Abaqus (including Abaqus CAE) and MSC Nastran/Patran. He has undertaken many types of analysis in the oil and gas industry ranging from simple static to advanced non-linear analysis types. The Analysis Types page describes some of these in detail.

Mark is familiar with many codes of practice and standards within the oil and gas industry including DNV, ASME and AISC codes. He has implemented techniques for analysing welded connections using FEA such as the Hot-Spot Stress method and has carried out pressure vessel analyses including ratcheting and shakedown assessments. See the Expertise page for more information.
