Industry Experience
Mark has carried out a wide range of analyses, for clients in the aerospace, rail and oil and gas industries. This gives Mark a uniquely wide perspective on best practice in structural assessments of all kinds. (For a list of specific finite element analysis classes, see the Analysis Types page.)
Mark has carried out analysis conforming to the requirements of various codes including BS7608, 8118 and 5400 for weld fatigue; DNV RPC201 and 3 for general elastic structural integrity including local buckling and the Hot Spot Stress method; and ASME pressure vessel codes, including stress linearisation. Other work includes assessments of plastic collapse under static and transient impact loadings, multi-body dynamics, ratchetting and shakedown analysis.
Process industry equipment analysed includes heat exchangers and economisers. In the oil and gas industries, equipment worked on includes top-side pipe laying spools and towers, platforms, sub-sea christmas trees sub-assemblies including valve bodies, tubing hangers, steeelwork and orientation drive systems. Mark has been responsible for authorising concessions in the aerospace and rail industries and has wide experience in the use of Mathcad and spreadsheets.. Much of his analysis expertise has been accredited through the Registered Analyst Scheme, run by the analysis industry professional body, NAFEMS.
